Despite the accolades, some diners feel that the portions of fish could be larger, especially considering the deliciousness that leaves them wanting more. A few reviews note that the wait for food can be longer during the busy hours. Although the atmosphere is casual, some patrons may prefer a more upscale dining environment for special occasions. On occasion, selections may run out due to the fresh nature of the ingredients, which can lead to disappointment if customers have their hearts set on a specific dish. As for the winter break, it can be a letdown for regulars anticipating their favorites during that time.
Best fish and chips and oysters we’ve had in Tasmania! The only minor point — the portion of fish could be slightly larger.
Enjoyed a dozen beautiful oysters here followed by one of their homemade scallop pies. Delicious food! Warm and friendly service. Great place to taste Tasmania’s finest.

We tried the fish and chips today and it was absolutely amazing! Everything was fresh and delicious. I think they're trying to be sustainable by using only local ingredients. Food: Fresh! From the oysters to fried calamari and chippies it didnt have so much extra seasoning making the taste really fresh. Atmosphere: Warm and welcoming despite it being a small one stop shop for fresh and cooked seafood.
Stanley Seafood delivers an exceptional fish and chips experience. We tried the wild salmon and latchet, both cooked to perfection—fresh, flaky, and full of flavor. The crispy, golden batter was light and not greasy, making every bite delicious. The staff were amazing—friendly, welcoming, and attentive, adding to the great atmosphere. A must-visit for seafood lovers in Stanley!
Good stop for quick meal. I came by late so they already closed their kitchen but their scallop pies were A-M-A-Z-I-N-G Also has Van Diemans ice cream, an iconic tassie staple. What I loved about this place was how local their produce was. Their oysters were Tarkine oysters & their soda was regional as well. Good place to shop with lesser carbon footprint and taste the regions’s best offerings!
